Friendly Local Nerds is a community forum for people who are interested in things that are considered 'nerdy'. (It's in our name and everything!) But over the years there have been plenty of changes in what's considered nerdy and the history of hobbies like model painting and tabletop games has long-since been tied to other interests - such as historical miniatures, model objects like planes, train sets and other, similar things. As mentioned elsewhere, there are a few areas of the forum where, in the spirit of preserving that history and providing for our members, we allow the posting and discussion of hobbies that are not strictly 'nerdy'.
That's why the Models & Miniatures board allows the posting of figures and projects that are not strictly 'nerdy' in nature. Examples of these sorts of things are model train sets, model vehicle building kits, historical dioramas, general/other genre busts and miniatures or anything else that falls into a similar category of creating scale objects.
As a clarification on some grey areas; prop replicas are generally not considered models, as they are rarely scaled models or built by you, and action figures, vinyl statues and other toys that are likewise not constructed or modified by you, or are kept in their original packaging for display purposes, are usually considered collectibles. These would go in the Memorabilia & Collections board. If you are not sure, however, post away, and a moderator may simply move your topic later.
Funko pops are not a grey area, however. They are not models and therefore belong in the Memorabilia & Collections board if you're showing off your collection or in the Creativity & Crafts board if you're modifying one.
