[NOTE] Collections Need Not Be 'Nerdy'

Post by AlexBC »

Friendly Local Nerds is a community forum for people who are interested in things that are considered 'nerdy'. (It's even in our name!) But over the years there have been plenty of changes in what's considered nerdy and the history of things like sports cards, comics and tabletop games has long-since been tied to other hobbies - such as model making, stamp or coin collecting and other similar subjects. While things such as the modern comic or game store have changed considerably from the hobby shops of old, there are still plenty of people around who enjoy these overlap interests and many collectors that collect more than just comics or RPG miniatures.

So in the spirit of preserving the history of our communities and providing for our members, in this section of the forum we allow the posting and discussion of collections, memorabilia or hobby items that are not strictly 'nerdy'. Examples of this can include things like coins, stamps, boxcars or hotwheels, historical or vintage things, music memorabilia and records... even fossils or stones. Generally, as long as it could be considered memorabilia or the act of collecting something, it can go here. Otherwise, other hobbies can go in our Creativity & Crafts board or Causal Chitchat for anything else.

Trains or model making is also allowed, but our Models & Miniatures board also allows non-nerdy things, and we'd recommend putting those things in there. The same goes for historical reenactments - our Cosplay & Play board also allows for non-nerdy subjects and some discussion is better suited for there.
